Grand Kids and Dinosaurs - A Great Combination!

Writer's picture: Ken MurrayKen Murray

Shelly and I took our grand kids, Rhys and Knox, to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. There's a new dinosaur exhibit, the Hall of Fossils, and the kids absolutely love dinosaurs.

Our day started with watching the kids' baseball game. After they played, we took them to McDonald's for a lunch treat, then headed to the museum on the National Mall in Washington, DC. We headed straight to the dinosaur fossil exhibit and we passed the giant African Elephant on the way.

The dinosaur exhibit was incredible and the kids were so excited. Rhys was running around saying, "that's a brachiosaurus", and "that's a triceratops". He knows them all.

We then went to the Q?rius science education center that brings the museum’s science, researchers, and collections out from behind the scenes. The kids got to learn from hands on exhibits and staff.

Learning about Crocodiles

Here's a video of Rhys and Knox learning about crocodiles.

Lastly we took a quick look at the Hope Diamond. The picture doesn't do it justice.

We enjoyed ice cream and headed to our community outdoor pavilion to watch Incredibles 2. It was a jam-packed, fun day with Rhys and Knox.
